Services
Co-Exist NSW's Clinical Consultation and Assessment Services are available to any person from a CALD community who is a resident of NSW, and who is experiencing two or more concurrent mental health difficulties or the coexistence of a mental health condition with substance abuse.
Referrals
Anyone can make a referral, including the client themselves. With the consent of the client, referrals can be made by health service providers, family and friends.
Clinical Consultation and Assessment Service (CCAS)
The Clinical Consultation and Assessment Service of Co-Exist NSW uses the brokerage services of the Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC). The role of this service is to obtain details of the referral and match clients with a bilingual clinician who has the cultural and clinical expertise most suited to meeting the client's needs. The bilingual clinician is responsible for contacting the client to schedule an appointment for more formal screening and assessment.
Bilingual clinicians have the language, cultural and professional skills to effectively assist clients. The role of the bilingual clinician is to provide culturally appropriate:
- Psychosocial, psychological and psychiatric assessment
- Family assessments
- Short term therapy
- Intervention Outcomes
At the end of the intervention, the bilingual clinician will provide a client report. This report can be made available to the client or with the clients permission may be sent to the referrer. The report includes recommendations and referral to follow-up services if necessary.
Co-Exist NSW Clinical Services are FREE and available to individuals, families, children, young people and older people.
