Diversit-e Issue 3, October 2011 - Mental Health

 

This issue of Diversit-e looks at mental health. According to the Mental Health Association NSW, when an illness has an impact on our thoughts, feelings or behaviour it is considered to be a mental illness. However, mental health is more than treating mental illness. Mental health is vital for every person and is an important part of overall good health and wellbeing.

Diversit-e Issue 2, July 2011 - Models of care 

This issue of Diversit-e has been dedicated to 'models of care for CALD communities' and examines different approaches to providing culturally sensitive health care in Australia's multicultural society. Culturally competent health care emphasises the importance of care that is flexible, sensitive to an individual's needs and preferences, and is provided with respect and acceptance.

Diversit-e Issue 1, March 2011- Child and family health

This issue of Diversit-e looks at the health and wellbeing of children and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. Each year thousands of children and their families with a diversity of health and settlement needs migrate to Australia. In this issue of Diversit-e we look at the way in which services throughout Australia are working to ensure that all children, regardless of background, are given the opportunity to develop to be healthy and productive adults.
