Communication Education and Information Dissemination Priority Area

The aims of this priority area are to:
- Disseminate accurate information to the community on government policy
- Inform the broader mental health sector and community of the role, responsibilities, activities and policies of the MMHA and emerging key mental health issues.
Some of the activities for this priority will include:
- Targeting specific audiences for the purposes of accessible national information dissemination
- Ensuring the broad distribution and accessibility of information to consumers and carers and the community on mental health issues, in particular the COAG National Action Plan on Mental Health and the National Mental Health Strategy/Plans
- Ensuring the website is an effective communication avenue which promotes the role and responsibilities of MMHA in the CALD mental health sector, including a link to healthinsite, an Australian Government Initiative.
- Including information relevant to government policy on priority issues in newsletters
- Establishing co-operative relationships with key national media organisations and journalists to enable effective channels of communication on CALD mental health issues
- Engaging with media regarding best practice guidelines supporting the appropriate report of suicide, mental health and mental illness
- Undertaking activities to promote good mental health and the prevention of mental health disorders
- Constructing an effective method of national information dissemination for consumers, carers and CALD community sector services
- Identifying the CALD community's most critical unmet requirements for public information resources
- Improving and maintaining the MMHA Clearinghouse and other information services
- Developing and implementing new measures to provide accessible information and awareness of mental health issues to people from CALD backgrounds
- Promoting available resources by facilitating national workshops with an emphasis on mental health in CALD communities
- Having participatory roles in various workshops/seminars with an emphasis on mental health.
