Intern Psychology Program

Psychology Intern Program

The Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC) established its Psychology Intern Program in 1999. The program is designed to meet the requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia (the Board) and to train Psychology Interns to work effectively in a multicultural society.
Supervision is provided by TMHC staff members who are registered Psychologists and Board-authorised supervisors.

The two-year fee-based program includes:

  • A minimum of 176 hours supervision, at least 117 of which are on an individual basis
  • 120 hours of workshops relevant to Psychology at registration level
  • Membership of the TMHC test library and the Diversity Health Institute and Cumberland Hospital libraries
  • A placement that provides the 17.5 hours per week of psychological practice required by the Board.

Applications are also welcome from candidates who have arranged their own placements, or who have employment recognised by the Board for registration purposes.
