The Transcultural Mental Health Centre Shared Stories Program provides an opportunity for anyone who has experienced a mental illness to share their story.
By sharing your story you can help other people who are going through a mental illness to understand what is happening to them and to assist them with the recovery process.
Mental illness is different for everyone, however culture, traditions and beliefs can influence the way that you, your family and community respond to mental illness. Your story can provide a role model for people from a similar background who are experiencing a mental illness.
Consumer stories assist in breaking down the stigma and stereotypes that can be associated with mental illness.
Your story can also allow service providers to better understand the experiences of CALD consumers and help us to improve our services.
They are also a great way of expressing yourself.
