Consumers

Mental illness can happen to anyone, regardless of where you live, where you were born, what language you speak or your cultural background.

A mental health consumer is someone who has experienced a mental illness. The Transcultural Mental Health Service’s consumers are people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who have direct experience of a mental illness, co-existing conditions such as a mental health and substance abuse issues or problem gambling.

The Transcultural Mental Health Centre involves consumers in all its activities and works in partnership with consumers to plan and evaluate its services.

Consumer participation helps everyone to better understand what it is like to live with and recover from a mental illness and assists us to improve our services.
