Intern Psychology Program

Psychology Intern Program

The Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC) established its Psychology Intern Program in 1999. The program aims to train interns to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse clients. The program is designed to meet the requirements of the NSW Psychologists Registration Board. Supervision is provided by TMHC staff.

The two-year fee based program includes:

  • A minimum of 100 hours supervision, at least 60 of which are on an individual basis
  • A variety of registration level psychology workshops
  • Access to the TMHC test library, the Diversity Health Institute and Cumberland Hospital Libraries
  • Visits to relevant organisations
  • Placements that provide the 16 hours per week of practical work required by the board

Applications are also welcome from candidates who have arranged their own placements, or who have employment recognised by the Board for registration purposes.
