'Half Way Home'
Winners Announced
  

 

During Youth Week 2011, the Transcultural Mental Health Centre launched its 8th Young Writers Competition - TranSCRIBE.

A biennial event since 1988, TranSCRIBE is open to all young people aged 12 – 24 years old across NSW. TranSCRIBE focuses on the importance of mental well being for young people living in diverse societies.

Since it began, TranSCRIBE has attracted more than 2300 young writers from over 300 educational institutions across NSW.

Each TranSCRIBE has a new theme and this year it was ‘Half Way Home’.

In 2011 numerous entries were received from 79 educational institutions across three age categories. Prize winners were announced at an awards ceremony held on 10 November 2011 and hosted by the Transcultural Mental Health Centre. At the ceremony The Hon Kevin Humphries, MP, Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Healthy Lifestyles & Minister for Western NSW presented the winners with prizes and certificates. The Minister also launched the booklet of winning entries for TranSCRIBE11.

The booklet announcing the winners and their stories has been published and distributed to over 750 schools and educational institutions across the state. To download a copy of the booklet click here.

TranSCRIBE is an initiative of the Transcultural Mental Health Centre and in 2011 was a partnership with the NSW Centre for the Advancement of Adolescent Health, Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW and the Black Dog Institute.
