"A Practical Guide" Series Booklets and CD's

The Transcultural Mental Health Centre has proudly developed booklets and CDs on wellbeing issues in a number of community languages. The booklets and CDs focus on the importance of obtaining and maintaining mental health and wellbeing, and encourage communities and individuals to reflect on these matters.

The material presented aims to increase awareness of the contributing factors and issues that affect mental health, quality of life and wellbeing. It aims to help consumers identify issues of concern and facilitate efforts to bring about change. it also aims to assist individuals empower themselves by developing the skills needed to maintain or improve their mental health and wellbeing. CDs are available for $4.40 each. Booklets are free plus postage and handling.

Health & Wellbeing of Older People

Health and Wellbeing of Older People in our community includes booklets and audio cassettes in various community languages.

Audio-cassette recordings are from a series of radio programs broadcast in 15 languages on SBS in April 2000. The programs were based on issues identified by focus groups of older people from the communities and look at the emotional and mental health needs of older people from NESB. They also provide information on health and community-based support services and programs.

Family Help Kit

Booklet and audio cassettes - Contains information on child and adolescent behaviour, challenging behaviours, grief and loss, fears and anxiety, post-traumatic stress, depression, suicide prevention, psychosis and body image and eating disorders.

Healthy Kids

This multilingual, multimedia information package includes fact sheets, cassette tapes and CDs that cover four mental health issues. It has been developed for parents from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, to promote their understanding and recognition of mental health issues in children. The package also aims to increase appropriate help-seeking behaviour. These resources were developed by Transcultural  Mental Health Centre in collaboration with the Children's Hospital at Westmead.
