To find an exact phrase, use quotation marks around the phrase.
e.g. "Diversity Health Institute"
You can use the truncation symbol * at the
end of a word to find records with all words beginning with
the characters before the symbol.
e.g. divers*
You can combine terms with Boolean operators entered in this
way:
& = AND
finds records with both words
/ = OR
finds records with either word
! = NOT
finds records with the first word, but not the second
For example, cars & boats finds records
only if they contain both words (cars and boats). Cars
/ boats finds records that contain either word (cars
or boats). Cars ! boats finds records about
cars but not boats.
You can also use proximity operators w# and p#. For example,
red w3 boat finds red within 3 words of boat.
Red p3 boat finds red preceding boat by 3
words or less. (Proximity search is only available on guided
search pages).
