CALD Children & Families Mental Health Program

Enhancing the mental health coping capacity of CALD children and their families and empowering them with the knowledge, skills and necessary resources to maximise their mental health potential requires collaboration between many key partners.

It also requires a multifaceted approach that includes embedding and recognising diversity within child and family mental health policies, using a community development approach and undertaking a broad spectrum of mental health initiatives sensitive to cultural values, child rearing practices and language needs.

This may involve increasing CALD families' awanress about mental health, promoting available services, providing prevention and early intervention services as well as treatment and rehabilitation and support services. The TMHC has ongoing involvement in a variety of such initiatives.
