Clinical Supervision
The Clinical Supevision Program was established in 1995 to provide support, advice and guidance about clinical matters to sessional workers of the Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC). The Program was later expanded to include NSW Bilingual Counsellors and other clinicians providing assessment and counselling services, with at least fifty percent of their caseload being NESB clients. Supervision sessions are held monthly in closed groups with designated clinical supervisors who have experience in transcultural mental health assessment and treatment.
The aim of the Program is to provide accessible and free clinical supervision by senior clinicians who have a range of clinical expertise and experience. The Program focuses on "cultural supervision" which provides opportunities to examine and reflect on skills and knowledge application, to enhance professional identity, to provide support for clinicians and to promote models of best practice reflecting current issues and needs of clients from our culturally diverse community.
