About Us
The Diversity Health Institute Workforce Development, Education and Training Network (WDET Network) works to incorporate diversity issues into all existing health training, as well as in workforce policy, planning and development intiatives. With representation of cultural competency trainers from across New South Wales, the WDET Network meets to discuss a range of issues including:
- EQuIP and accreditation
- Models of skills development in cultural competency
- Multicultural health training
- Development of cultural competency standards
The Network has conducted an audit of cross-cultural training in NSW and identified models of good practice in cultural competency skills development. It is developing:
- An orientation package in cultural competency for use of health staff across NSW
- An education package in cultural competency for health service managers based on mandatory EAPS reporting requirements.
