Reducing Musculoskeletal Injuries Incurred by Women Working in Market Gardens - a pilot research project conducted with women of Chinese background in the Sydney Basin

Twenty-two (22) Cantonese-speaking women agreed to participate in this project and the collaboration with a bilingual community worker (BCW) and Interpreter were essential in connecting the research officer with the participants. The women were divided into geographically defined groups and varied in age and the number of years they had worked as market gardeners.

Each set of strategies was implemented for a ten week period with each group. Questionnaires on 'pain', 'current behaviours', 'work practices', 'postures' and 'movements' were completed over the twenty weeks.
